According to legend, one day, a neighbor accidentally dropped a kitchen knife into the well, and from that time on, no stars could be seen.<\/p>\n<p>Since the road passed through Gokurakuji Kiridori (Gokurakuji-zaka), the area near the well was crowded with tea stalls during the Meiji era (1868-1912).
